Team Managers

Thank you for taking the time to become a team manager and for playing a critical part in helping kids playing basketball for SCBC.  We all appreciate you!


Please find below some instructions and guidance.

 

Of course, if you need help, please reach out to our committee members, we are all here to help.

Please remember that you (and the coach) if 18+ years old, are required to hold a current  Working with Children (WWC) Check.   Information about WWCC can be found here.

Number of Seasons:

  • Summer Season 

    • The regular season will run over term 4 & 1 with the finals being played in the last 2 weeks of term 1. Games do not run on public holiday weekends or inside the school holidays.

  • Winter Season 

    • The regular season will run over term 2 & 3 with the finals being played in the last 2 weeks of term 3. Games do not run on public holiday weekends or inside the school holidays.​​


Prior to the season:
1. Prior to the registration window opening confirm your players are returning for the next season

  • in August/September for the Summer Season and

  • in February for the Winter season,

2. When the registration window opens,  ensure that:

  • a) All players, coaches and team managers to follow the link to register with PlayHQ.

  • b) You determine the correct fee structure for your team and advise each player what individual cost is required

  • c) Collect the fees from each player/parent for the upcoming season

  • d) Pay full Team Fee to the SCBC Treasurer via Direct Debit as ONE deposit per team

  • d) Details of players, team managers and coaches including Team Name to be provided to Register Coordinator

3. Confirm with the Training Venue Coordinator that you are staying with or changing your training time and
venue.  

4. Ensure that players have uniforms or need to order uniforms - details about the uniform can be found at our Uniforms PageIn the case you need to borrow a uniform (e.g. need for fill-in or people are waiting for arrival of purchased uniform) we may be able to lend a loan uniform.  Please make contact with our Uniform Coordinator to check what we may have available.   

5. Notify players/parents of season draw once released. Provide link to the Fixture found at PlayHQ.  The link is: https://www.playhq.com/basketball-victoria/org/south-camberwell-basketball-club/8b7fd228

6. Distribute Club Codes of Conduct to all Team Members - this can be found at our Resources Page

7. Draw up a roster of parents to help score at matches – PlayHQ Scoring Guide and Video can be found at our Competition Information Page 

8. Suggest to players parents to share getting groups to games and training.(optional)
 
During the season:
1. Make sure all players and scorer turn up to the game (15 minutes prior to the start time)

2. Make sure Courtside score iPad is completed prior to the match (player names, player numbers and add any fill-ins)
3. Make sure parents do not sit on the bench – the bench is for players only
4. Make sure Club Codes of Conduct are followed
5. Keep parent contact details with you (late venue cancellations, emergencies etc)

 

Forfeits:

  • Any forfeit notified to the league before 5pm on Wednesday (prior to the game on Saturday) will incur a $80 fee, payable by the forfeiting team. 

  • Any forfeit notified to the league after 5pm on Wednesday will incur a $130 fee payable by the forfeiting team.

These fees are charged by the league as the league still incur costs associated with Saturday games such as court hire and referee costs.  If you need to forfeit please notify SCBC as soon as possible.

Finals:
1. Check the finals eligibility list to ensure all of your players have qualified against the final list.
(check this list a couple of weeks before to ensure all players have met 5 game minimum)
2. Email any concerns by contacting your registration coordinator.
3. If the team makes the finals, ensure parents/ players are aware of time and venue and who is
scoring.

 


At the end of the season:
1. Organise gift from team to the coach to be presented at end of season get together. (optional)
